It is found mainly in the skin and connective tissues. It can hold up to 20 times its weight in water. Its water retention capacity gives it its visco-elastic properties. Aloe Vera leaves contain different ingredients, depending on the part of the leaf: Aloe vera gel, used in cosmetics, corresponds to the aqueous solution inside the leaves.
